Seems some men hate being bald, and others realize – or believe - that women really like them that way. But what is the truth about bald men?
For those who have no idea of the answer to this question, there’s a vaguely hair-raising article that was published in the Journal of Social Psychological and Personality Science about a year ago that suggests bald men see themselves as more “manly” than their hairy counterparts. It maintains that those who are not naturally bald actually shave their hair to meet the so-called requirements of no hair.
The man behind this particularly study, done at the University of Pennsylvania, was … not much surprise … bald.
For the study, researcher Alfred Mannes showed 60 people pictures of men – some with hair and some without – and asked them to rate the men. In his resultant report he said:
“The shaved look is more attractive than the visibly balding look.
“So men suffering natural hair loss may enhance both their dominance and attractiveness by shaving."
A more recent British study has four out of ten men stating they would give up a year of their life to NOT be bald! They find it humiliating, and it affects their confidence not having hair.
This particular study involved a survey of 1,500 men and was undertaken by the Harley Street Hair Clinic.
If you don’t already know, the famous Harley Street clinic is strongly rumored to have done a £30,000 hair transplant on legendary English footballer Wayne Rooney. Clearly he didn’t like the idea of being bald.
